AUSTRALIA / SEVEN Gravel World Series Race

This is one of the world’s greatest gravel races and the best-run event we have ever taken part in, hands down. We headed out to the sleepy shire of Nannup in Western Australia for the 2024 race and ran our first SEVEN Tour in 2025 - both trips were epic!

The beauty of the place, the scale of it all, and the friendliness of both fellow riders and race crew all combines to overthrow you, in the nicest possible way.

The event has come on in leaps and bounds since its inception and will host the World Gravel Champs in 2026.

It really is a wonderful experience and as a result, we’re hosting our 7-day tour there in 2026 May 14thth to 2oth, anchored around the event itself, which is on the 16th.

The tour will include 5 stages over the 7 days. In addition to some amazing riding in Western Australia, we’ve sprinkled in a winery visit, some proper Aussie grub, a little VIP status the day before the event and access behind the scenes to meet the SEVEN founders and crew, as well as airport pick up and drop off.

This is all capped off with a guaranteed race entry for this mighty behemoth of a gravel race!

NOTE: Due to the fact that there are very few hotels to accommodate a large group, shared occupancy only is available apart from Day 6. However, rooms are spacious and the shared living builds a great group groove!

Note: For this tour a full gravel bike or MTB is essential, with 40mm+ (bare minimum!) knobbly tires.

Please note that on all of our tours, we make sure that no one gets left behind. We are all about inclusivity, not exclusivity - this is a collective, after all.

MANY THANKS to Patrick Boere Photography for the excellent images.

THE LOWDOWN

  • DAY 1

PERTH to NANNUP / Spin to Cottage

    Est. time: 2 hrs

    Gravel: 40%

Pick up by van in Perth and then you and your bike (carefully packed and loaded onto a purpose-built trailer) will be driven the 260km south to the lovely little town of Nannup, host of the SEVEN gravel world qualifier race. A short ride to our accommodation at Lavendar Cottage will help loosen the legs!

  • DAY 2

    REGO & RIDE 50km / 510m

    Est. time: 3 hrs

    Gravel: 90%

Stage 1: Before rego (registration in the local lingo) in the afternoon, we will ride into Nannup, stop at the local bakery for a caramel slice or two (also known as ‘Aussie crack’ - it’s that addictive), then ride a few kms of the start and finish section of the SEVEN race. Hopefully we may even see a kangaroo or twenty. In the afternoon after lunch we will head to the rego area, where we will meet the race founders and get a VIP look behind the scenes. There are plenty of sponsor booths to see also and this is your chance to pick up some official SEVEN kit.

  • DAY 3

    SEVEN Race Day 125km / 3200m

    Est. time: 4 - 6 hrs

    Gravel: 97%

Stage 2: The Queen Stage of the tour for sure! Get ready for an action-packed day on this dream-like course. The thrill of standing on the start line with a 1000 plus gravel heads as dawn arrives is something you won’t soon forget - and then you’re off, bounding over bumps and hurtling down hills, grimacing and smiling in equal measure. ‘Epic’ is an overused word but, this truly is…

  • DAY 4

    NANNUP LOOP 80km / 860m

    Est. time: 5hrs

    Gravel: 95%

Stage 3: An ‘on-bike recovery’ day… for the masochistic! Not really, this ride will be taken slowly and relaxed, and the option of a day or or to ride half is available to all. We will set off to explore the region inland from the Cottage, into land unknown! It promises to be a fun day.

  • DAY 5

    NANNUP - MARGIE RIVER 99km / 930m

    Est. time: 5-6hrs

    Gravel: 95%

Stage 4: Another big day in terms of distance but not elevation, and with yesterday’s race in the legs still, we will likely be thankful for that. Here we head a little north then turn west through Whicher National Park, then run down through Rapids Convention Park and finally to the picturesque town of Margaret River. We did this same route in May ‘25 the day after the race and took it nice and easy, and it is another stunning ride, quite different from the SEVEN.

  • DAY 6

    MARGARET RIVER - BUSSELTON 78km / 403m

    Est. time: 4-5hrs

    Gravel: 88%

Would you look at that - more gravel… On our final day of cycling we head inland through the area east of Cowaramup and up north to the coast, where we will drop by the seaside town of Dunsborough and then east along to Busselton, to our luxury hotel. In the evening we will have our Farewell Dinner and a tipple or two of whatever tickles your fancy! This last ride is another beauty.

  • DAY 7

    BUSSELTON - PERTH

The last day of the tour sees us head by van from our hotel by the sea back up to Perth, to the airport or your hotel, if staying an extra day or 2. Then it’s time to head home and clean those bikes, and regale our friends back home with the Tale of the Tour of the SEVEN…
